THUNDER BAY – Garbage collection has resumed in the city of Thunder Bay.
Residents who normally put their trash and recycling out on Fridays are back on a normal schedule, though city officials do say there may be some delays due to poor winter-like driving conditions.
Those who were supposed to put their trash out on Wednesday are asked to place it at the curb again after 4 p.m. on Friday, but before 7 a.m. on Saturday, for pick-up.
Those whose garbage and recycling was cancelled on Thursday because of the ice storm are being asked to put their trash out after 4 p.m. on Sunday and before 7 a.m. on Monday, for collection on May 1.
Battery recycling bags pick-up will also resume.
“We are also asking for the public’s help to alert elderly family members or those that might be home bound about this new schedule for garbage pickup,” said Jason Sherband, manager of solid waste and recycling services, in a release issued on Friday morning by the municipality.
“Just in case they do not hear about it through the traditional media.”
