THUNDER BAY – Gas prices may be starting to drop in Thunder Bay, to match plummeting oil prices around the world.

At least two stations in the city have dropped the price at the pump below $1.21 a litre for regular unleaded fuel.

A Shell station on Cumberland Street N. is now selling regular unleaded for $1.208 a litre, while an Esso station on Alloy Drive is selling for $1.209.

Most other stations have priced regular unleaded at $1.256 a litre.

In nearby Fort William First Nation, the lowest price for fuel is $0.967 a litre, the price at THP Variety and Gas.

Two other stations on the reserve are also selling regular unleaded for less than a dollar a litre.

Earlier this week the price of crude oil dropped by more than US$10 a barrel, to about $31.13. That's the highest single-day drop since 1991, according to a CBC report.
