UPDATE: Gas soars over $2 at one Thunder Bay station

Record high prices are in part a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

THUNDER BAY -- The price of gas has hit the $2-a-litre mark in Thunder Bay.

The Petro Canada on Arthur Street is currently selling a litre of regular unleaded gas for $2.029, marking the first time it's crossed the threshold in the city.

Earlier this week a station in Pembroke, Ont. hit $2 a litre.

Four stations on Sunday raised the price for a litre of regular unleaded to $1.959. Most stations in the city are at $1.759. Three of the four stations are under the Esso brand, while the fourth is the Mobil on Memorial Avenue.

The Ontario average is $1.805, according to OntarioGasPrices.com.
