KAKABEKA FALLS -- The Thunder Bay region has hit a dubious gas-price milestone.

A pair of gas stations in Kakabeka Falls have crossed the $2-a-litre mark, according to OntarioGasPrices.com, a first for the area. Prices did shoot up to $1.999 last week for a litre of regular unleaded fuel at some stations, but quickly dropped back when other stations did not follow suit. At least two stations in the city are now charging $1.999 for a litre of unleaded fuels.

The least expensive gasoline in the area can be found at K&A Variety and Gas Bar, which as of Monday afternoon was charging $1.68 for a litre of regular unleaded.

The average price in Ontario is $1.957, while the Canadian average is $1.905.
