Generous business may have saved snowmobile club

THUNDER BAY -- A generous donation from a large equipment supply company may have saved the season for the local snowmobile club.

THUNDER BAY -- A generous donation from a large equipment supply company may have saved the season for the local snowmobile club.

Recent heavy snowfall has downed trees along approximately a hundred kilometres of snowmobile trails operated by Thunder Bay Adventure Trails.

Club co-ordinator Adrian Tessier says they tried to clear the trails by hand, but it quickly became evident that wouldn't be possible.

Enter Darren Hynnes, owner of Hood Equipment.

When the avid snowmobiler heard about the trouble, he agreed to lend the club an excavator for as long as they need it.

Tessier says it's the best belated Christmas present he could have asked for.

Tessier adds that they'll take the excavator out into the bush this week.

He's hoping to have the majority of trails open by the end of January in plenty of time for next month's annual Teen Challenge Ride for Charity.
