GERALDTON, Ont. - A 27-year-old Geraldton man is facing numerous charges after threatening officers with a weapon before fleeing into the bush.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police Greenstone detachment responded to a residence on Osesky Drive in Geraldton just before 2 p.m. on Friday as part of a follow-up to an investigation.

When officers arrived a man threatened them with an edged weapon and then fled into the bush on foot.

The area was contained and local schools and the hospital were placed under a hold and secure lockdown as a safety precaution.

Members of North West Region Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit participated in the search and the man was located Saturday morning at the Geraldton District hospital and arrested without incident.

Christopher Brousseau, 27, has been charged with break and enter, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon.

Brousseau remains in custody and will make his next court appearance in Geraldton on May 12 for a bail hearing.
