German freighter being held at Duluth Port for environmental law concerns

DULUTH, Minn. -- An ocean-going German freighter is being held outside the port of Duluth as US Coast Guard investigates potential environmental law violations.

The Cornelia has been held for nearly two weeks after loading a cargo of grain at Superior.

Officials with the Coast Guard say the ship poses no public safety threat.

No charges have been laid as yet.
