Giant Tiger opening on June 13

Highly anticipated discount chain has about 250 locations in eight provinces across the country.

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s much anticipated Giant Tiger store has an opening date.

The company’s website lists June 13 as the day the store will open its doors.

The discount chain plans to open five new locations this year, including outlets in Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay.

The 20,700 square-foot store is located at the Thunder Centre, at 349 Main St.

The Canadian-owned discount retailer first opened in 1961 in Ottawa and today has more than 250 stores in eight provinces. The company sells food, clothing and household goods.
