Young girls in the Thunder Bay area are being invited to come together and experience what girl power is all about.
The Girl Power conference began six years ago as a way to teach participants how to make healthy and active lifestyle choices. The goal is to provide a relaxed, girls-only environment in hopes of reversing the trend of young girls dropping out of team activities after age 10.
Myles Cizmar, the city's Supervisor of Recreation and Culture, said the event encourages girls in Grades 5 through 9 to follow the positive influences in their lives.
This year's Girl Power conference takes place on May 8th at Confederation College.
Some of the different activities include volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, drama, and learning self-defense techniques.
The deadline to register is April 30, and forms are available at the Canada Games Complex or the Victoriaville Civic Centre.
