THUNDER BAY – A busy week for police saw 30 cases of assault along with at least 15 weapons charges being laid.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to more than 277 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, July 4 through Sunday, July 10.
The local crime statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.
Last week’s report shows police were only slightly busier on the north side, responding to 139 criminal incidents compared to 138 cases south of the Harbour Expressway.
The more than 277 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.
South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:
• 12 assaults
• 5 break and enters
• 13 thefts
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 4 thefts from vehicle
• 7 weapons charges
• 1 sexual assaults
• 22 property crimes
Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:
• 18 assaults
• 11 break and enters
• 2 sexual assaults
• 12 thefts
• 2 thefts of vehicle
• 3 thefts from vehicle
• 16 property crimes
• 8 weapons charges
The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
