Glance at Crime: 18 assaults, 5 sexual assaults

Thunder Bay Police responded to more than 178 criminal incidents including 18 assaults and five weapons charges.

City police responded to more than 178 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, November 14 through Sunday, November 22.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police were slightly busier on the north side, responding to 89 criminal incidents compared to 86 cases south of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 178 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

North of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 11 assaults
• 7 break and enters
• 4 property crimes
• 2 robbery
• 5 sexual assaults
• 18 thefts
• 2 thefts from vehicle
• 5 thefts of vehicle
• 2 weapons charges

Meanwhile, south of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 7 assaults
• 6 break and enters
• 12 property crimes
• 2 robbery
• 11 thefts
• 4 thefts from vehicle
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 3 weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.

The above numbers represent an estimate.
