Glance at Crime: 25 assaults, 18 weapons charges

Police were busy responding to more than 225 criminal incidents last week including eight property crimes.

City police responded to more than 225 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, May 22 through Sunday, May 28.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police were slightly busier on the south side, responding to 138 criminal incidents compared to 87 cases north of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 225 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 15 assaults
• 16 break and enters
• 4 property crimes
• 1 robbery
• 13 thefts
• 4 thefts from vehicle
• 10 weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 10 assaults
• 3 break and enters
• 4 property crimes
• 1 robbery
• 2 sexual assaults
• 14 thefts
• 2 thefts of vehicle
• 8 weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
