Glance at Crime: 32 assaults, 26 thefts

Thunder Bay police were busy responding to more than 237 criminal incidents including 14 property crimes.

City police responded to more than 237 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, August 21 through Sunday, August 27.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police were slightly busier on the north side, responding to 126 criminal incidents compared to 111 cases south of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 237 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 14 assaults
• 11 break and enters
• 9 property crimes
• 1 robbery
• 3 sexual assaults
• 13 thefts
• 6 thefts from vehicle
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 5 weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 18 assaults
• 7 break and enters
• 5 property crimes
• 1 robbery
• 2 sexual assaults
• 13 thefts
• 4 thefts from vehicle
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 9 weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
