THUNDER BAY – City police responded to more than 189 incidents during the week of Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 through Sunday, Nov.8, 2015.

That’s down significantly from the 273 reported cases Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to the week before. Unfortunately last week’s numbers show a disturbing rise in the number of reported sexual assault cases – six reported last week with another four reported the week before that.

One other report of “other sexual offence” was also recorded last week.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

The more than 189 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, city police responded to 97 reported crimes. Some of the more serious incidents included:

• 7 Assaults
• 5 Break and enter
• 2 sexual assault
• 11 Thefts
• 3 Thefts from vehicles
• 4 Weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway, officers responded to more than 92 criminal reports.

Some of the more serious incidents reported include:

• 12 Assaults
• 4 Break and enters
• 1 Robbery
• 4 Sexual assault
• 14 Thefts
• 4 Theft from vehicles
• 1 Weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.

The above numbers represent an estimate.
