WATERLOO, Ont. -- The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks knocked the nationally ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves out of the 2020 OUA men's basketball playoffs.

They picked up where they left off when the two teams met on Friday night for the first time since that post-season contest.

The Golden Hawks out-scored Lakehead 30-9 at home on Friday night and cruised to a 103-77 win, OUA league-leading scorer Ali Sow dropping 26 points in 31 minutes.

Five Laurier players hit double figures, including Ben Stevens, who had 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Michael Okafor led the way for Lakehead, matching Sow with 26 points. Eric Gonzalez was the only other LU player to hit double digits, finishing with 13.

Lakehead shot just 32.1 per cent from the field, while the Golden Hawks hit more than half their shots, connecting on 43 of 82.

The loss, Lakehead's fourth straight, drops the Thunderwolves record to 1-4. Laurier picked up its first win of the season, improving to 1-2.

The two teams tangle again on Saturday night at the Athletic Complex Gym.
