Graham out as SIJHL commissioner

Bryan Graham spent six years at the league's helm, bringing three expansion teams aboard during his tenure.

THUNDER BAY – Bryan Graham is out as commissioner of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

The seven-team circuit on Thursday said provided few details about Graham's departure, only that he's “ended his term as league commissioner.”

The league said it will immediately begin a search to replace Graham, a former professional on-ice official in the ECHL. He currently serves in the front office of the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

"We would like to thank Bryan Graham for his six years of service to the SIJHL and his many contributions to our league and the game of hockey," said Doug Lein, chairman of the league's board of governors.

"Bryan has many accomplishments to celebrate, many NCAA and U SPORTS commitments under his watch along with bringing true stability and calm to our league. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Asked for a response, Graham had little to say.

"I can't really comment," he said.

Graham helped oversee the addition of three espansion teams to the SIJHL and oversaw the implementaton of high-definition Internet broadcasts of all league games, a Canadian Junior Hockey League first.

Lein went on to say the board of governors is excited about the future of the league and the “fresh ideas and changes that will be made moving forward.”
