Increases in grain volumes continue to fuel an improved shipping picture for the port of Thunder Bay.
Totals for September released on Monday by the port authority show that more than 720,000 tonnes of cargo moved through the port last month.
That's up from the 540,000 tonnes recorded in September of last year.
Of that total, almost 600,000 came from grain shipments, which is up from 370,000 a year ago.
Overall, the total volume for the year now sits at almost 4.8-million tonnes, compared to 4.4-million at the same point in 2010.
