UPDATE: Grand Point Road home destroyed by fire (3 photos)

One home destroyed in an early morning fire on Fort William First Nation.

FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION – A home on Fort William First Nation was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a fully involved structure fire just after midnight on Grand Point Road.

According to a release, the first arriving pumper encountered a single-family house on fire, so a second alarm was initiated.

Fire crews applied water to the exposures in an effort to prevent the spread of fire to the surrounding buildings.

The home was ultimately destroyed.

All occupants were evacuated before arriving crews arrived on scene and no injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
