Gravelle retains title

Thunder Bay still has a provincial cabinet minister following the premier’s shuffle Monday.

Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry Michael Gravelle will retain his title. Premier Dalton McGuinty made the cabinet shuffle official Monday afternoon, adding four rookie members while scrapping three veteran ministers.

Minister of Natural Resources Donna Cansfield, who had her forestry responsibilities transferred to Minister Gravelle’s portfolio, is among the three veterans to lose cabinet positions.

Minister of Aboriginal Affairs Brad Duguid, who visited the city last week for the Ontario First Nations Economic Forum, was promoted. Duguid will take over the Energy and Infrastructure portfolio, which was formerly held by George Smitherman.
