An airport committee will soon be put in place in Greenstone to oversee operations at its two main air fields.
A by-law was recently struck to form the committee, which will look after both the Nakina and Geraldton airports as traffic related to the Ring of Fire continues to rise. Representatives on the board will include an airport manager, councillors from both Geraldton and Nakina as well as two members at large. Greenstone mayor Ron Beaulieu said the committee's primary objective will be to make improvements as the municipality enters this exciting time
The Nakina airport recently received nearly $4 million dollars for upgrades from the federal government.
