THUNDER BAY — City police are involved in a ground search in the Intercity area as they continue to look for a 55-year-old man who was reported missing over the weekend.
Pierre Kowtiash, 55, was reported missing on Saturday and has been the subject of an ongoing search.
In a Wednesday update, Thunder Bay police said the investigation has confirmed a sighting of Kowtiash on Saturday in the Thunder Centre area, walking westbound toward Fort William Road.
Residents in the area are asked to check security cameras for footage from Saturday evening, and report to police if anything relevant is observed.
Police have described Kowtiash as a vulnerable missing person, who is non-verbal, and has a brain injury.
A significant police presence is expected in the area during the search, which also involved Thunder Bay Fire Rescue on Wednesday.
Kowtiash is described as an Indigenous man, standing about six-foot-two in height, with a thin build, medium-length black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, black toque, and a blue sweater.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
