A group of Matawa First Nations have started a blockade at the site of a booming mineral exploration area known as the Ring of Fire.
Marten Falls Chief Elijah Moonias said he is frustrated that some companies working at the deposit are ignoring his community's needs to benefit from the development. The region is located north of Greenstone, along the Attawapiskat River.
Moonias said he and other First Nations members are planning to prevent planes from landing near Marten Falls.
