GUELPH, Ont. – The road wasn’t a friendly place for the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night.
Despite holding a 22-17 lead after the opening quarter, the T-Wolves were heavily outgunned in the second and third quarter, with host Guelph Gryphons putting up 51 points in the two periods and allowing just 16 points against.
The Gryphons (9-4) went on to defeat the Thunderwolves 79-52, as Lakehead fell to 4-9 on the season.
Ally Burke and Kirpa Brar, off the bench, were the lone LU players to hit double digits - Burke finished with 12 and Brar wound up with 10.
Trinity Papamandjaris led the Gryphons with 17 points.
Lakehead coughed up 29 turnovers in the contest.
The Thunderwolves will take on Algoma on Sunday afternoon. Their next home game is Jan. 26 against the Brock Badgers.
