Gull Bay First Nation will hold a ratification vote in September to decide whether to accept an offer from the Ontario Power Generation.
The community is seeking compensation for floods incurred by OPG dams in the Nipigon River dating back to the 1920s.
Chief Wilfred King says the offer is more than the $10 million offered in 2010.
King says they have started negotiations with Ontario and Canada on the same issue. He's confident they can solve those within a year and a half.
