Hajdu talks ‘dream portfolio’ in one-on-one with Toronto Star

Thunder Bay MP and Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu has been featured in a special one-on-one Q&A with one of Canada’s biggest daily newspaper.

The Thunder Bay – Superior North representative, who joined Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet immediately after her first-ever election victory, sat down with Toronto Star Ottawa bureau reporter Joanna Smith.

The conversation focused on the Status of Women ministry Hadju now heads.

In the interview Hajdu reflects on her time running a homeless shelter in Thunder Bay and the personal connection she has with the ministry. She tells The Star that “I’ve witnessed, daily, women who were raped, beaten and continued to be so. Oftentimes, they are victimized by also their protector, and so it’s a complex issue.”
