Hammer-wielding suspect sought in Mac's robbery

Police say the incident took place just after 1 a.m. this past Saturday.

THUNDER BAY – City police are looking for a hammer-wielding suspect wanted in conjunction with a robbery of a south-side convenience store.

In a release issued on Thursday, Thunder Bay police say a male suspect entered the Mac’s Convenience Store on the corner of Mountdale Avenue and Arthur Street at about 1:15 a.m. this past Saturday, his face covered with a bandana.

He demanded the clerk open the till and then fled on foot with two other suspects in the direction of the Arthur Street Shoppers Drug Mart.

Police searched the area, but none of the people were located.

The suspect who entered the store is described as standing about 5-foot-7 with a thin build. He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants and footwear and a black Nike cap with white writing on it.
