Hari drops opener, Paul stays unbeaten at U18s

Kakabeka Falls Rylie Paul won her third straight on Thursday night, while Josh Hari dropped his opener after giving up a steal in an extra end.

NORTH BAY – Thunder Bay’s Josh Hari came up one point short as he opened play at the Northern Ontario U18 boys’ playdowns in North Bay.

Hari gave up a steal of one in an extra end on Thursday night and dropped a 7-6 decision in Draw 3 play to New Liskeard’s Kamdyn Julien, and sits at 0-1 in the five-team field.

The 11-year-old is back on the ice on Friday morning against Evan Robert’s team from Sault Ste. Marie. His rink includes lead Hudson Kelly, second Kyle Haynen and third Hunter Torkkeli.

Kakabeka Falls’ Rylie Paul improved to a perfect 3-0 on the girls’ side, downing Fort Frances’ Sadie Tolton rink 10-1 on Thursday night.

Paul’s team includes lead Lily Arignello, second Bella McCarville, the daughter of two-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts runner up Krista McCarville, and skip Claire Dubinsky.

They're one of four teams tied at 3-0 atop the standings.
