Officials at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre say they believe cost cutting could end up being a welcomed relief.
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is expecting recommendations from a provincial advisor on how to cut one billion dollars.
In light of that, CEO Andree Robichaud said there are ways for the health-care system to become more efficient.
“It’s going to be looking at benchmarking where we are, and what’s the gap between the best practice where we are and how we move forward to get there,” CEO Andree Robichaud said during an interview with CKPR Radio Wednesday morning.
“To me, if the report can bring us some recommendations on efficiencies that we can get through best practice, I think it will be welcomed.”
Some recommendations include trying to reduce the number of c-section surgeries and removing arthroscopic knee surgery from OHIP lists.
