THUNDER BAY -- The NorWest Community Health Centre on Simpson Street will be experiencing some big changes next week, which will impact staff and clients alike.
The final touches on the new $8.4-million addition to the building are being put in place, and staff are getting ready to move in.
Due to the move, the centre will be closed Oct. 13 until Oct. 17.
During this time, clients are encouraged to call 911 for emergencies and 211 for information about walk-in clinics.
The four-day closure will affect many people in the community, however, Norwest CEO Wendy Talbot said it's necessary because the move is very complex.
“It will affect primary care plus programs and in addition urgent care, we have to shut that down because frankly the move is going to be as I said very complicated,” Talbot said.
“Exam rooms are going to be set up, offices have to be set up, furniture is coming in, and furniture is going to be moved from the old facility to the new facility, so it’s going to be a complex operation.”
The construction on the rest of the building is projected to be completed by the end of November.
