THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced 10 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday, with most traced to other recent cases.
Nine of the cases are in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area, which includes Oliver Paipoonge, Neebing, Gillies, Shuniah, Conmee, O'Connor, and some unorganized territories.
All but one of those local cases are a result of close contact with an existing case, with no known exposure category yet determined for the remaining case.
A 10th case was announced in a First Nation community, which could involve any one of around two dozen First Nations spread throughout the health unit’s territory. A full list is available on the TBDHU website.
There were 68 active cases of COVID-19 in the health unit’s territory, with two individuals reported in hospital with the virus as of Friday morning. Neither was listed as being in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU.)
