Health unit announces 71st COVID-19 case

A single confirmed case of COVID-19 was revealed on Friday.

THUNDER BAY – A single confirmed case of COVID-19 was revealed on Friday by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

According to a release, the case involves a man in his 40s from a First Nations community. The exposure category is listed as close contact to another case and he is self-isolating.

The health unit did not say which community the man resides in.

It brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district to 71. There are 19 active cases, with 51 deemed resolved and one that resulted in a death.

A total of 163 cases are still under investigation. Another 3,523 cases have come back negative, of which, 870 are listed as long-term care residents or staff.
