THUNDER BAY -- The health unit has issued a swimming advisory for the main beach at Boulevard Lake.
The Wednesday advisory from the Thunder Bay and District Health Unit is a response to high levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.
People can still swim at their own risk, although the bacteria may cause infections and other adverse effects.
Health unit officials say people who do swim should avoid swallowing beach water, towel off after a swimming and shower once they’re back at home. These steps will help reduce the risk of infection.
The advisory comes two weeks after a permanent swimming advisory was placed on the Chippewa Park main beach.
