THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Public Health Unit has launched a new survey to gauge the public's attitudes and interests regarding cannabis.
“The purpose is to find out from community members across the district what their thoughts are on cannabis and particular what topics they want to learn more about,” said Sheena Albanese, TBDHU health promotion planner.
“The results of this survey are going to help us develop educational activities," Albanese said.
The survey is a collaboration between Thunder Bay Drug Strategy, Thunder Bay Drug Awareness Committee and TBDHU
“We’re all agencies that have an interest in providing good, credible information about cannabis,” she said.
The anonymous survey is designed to extract information based on the age, gender, and type of user.
Questions such as whether they agree with the statement “Using cannabis before driving increases your risk of a motor vehicle collision,” or “Using cannabis can put you at increased risk of mental health challenges,” to get a scope of people's attitudes towards cannabis.
It also asks which topics, such as driving with cannabis, health effects, etc., respondents would like to learn more about.
“It’s our first survey in terms of trying to find out what people want to know about cannabis,” Albanese said.
TBDHU is also handing out print versions during various events throughout the month.
“We hope we’re a go-to place for people looking for information. We want to be a part of the conversation and a credible source for those who are interested in it,” Albanese added.
The survey is available on TBDHU's website until Aug. 2, and can be accessed directly through this link.
