THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit will reopen its booking system for COVID-19 vaccinations at the CLE Coliseum for people aged 85 and over.

The TBDHU's internal booking process will be accessible again Wednesday morning starting at 8:30.

Eligible individuals can either schedule an appointment online or by phone at 625-5900.

Appointments will be available for the week of March 15 to 19.

Once next week's clinic is full, appointments will no longer be accepted.

Walk-ins will not receive service.

Because of overwhelming demand, appointment slots that have been made available to date have been snapped up quickly.

In an announcement Tuesday, the TBDHU said the provincial booking system is expected to launch on March 15.

Once that happens, and as vaccine supply increases, it said more appointments will become available.

"Everyone who is eligible and wants a vaccine will receive one," it said.

The Ontario government said last month that people aged 80 and over would be allowed to start booking appointments by March 15 for clinics to be held the following week.
