THUNDER BAY - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District continues to decline, though only slightly, as new daily cases remains high.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 33 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, as well as one additional death, bringing the total number of fatalities to 46.
Of the new cases, 11 are considered the result of household contact, eight are listed as other close contact, 10 have no known exposure, and four are pending.
Thunder Bay and surrounding areas account for 28 of the new cases, while three are in First Nation communities and two in district communities.
The health unit is also reporting 35 more cases as resolved, bringing the total number of active cases in the district to 283, down slightly from 286 on Wednesday.
There are two more people in hospital with COVID-19, bringing the number of admitted patients from the district to 28, with five in the ICU.
To date, the Thunder Bay District has seen a total of 2,719 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
