Health unit reporting another COVID-19 death, 33 new cases

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 in the district is now 29, as the number of active cases climbs to 315.

THUNDER BAY - One more person has died in the Thunder Bay District as a result of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 29.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is also reporting 33 additional cases of COVID-19 and the total number of active cases now sits at 315. To date, there have been 1,497 cases of COVID-19 in the district.

Of the new cases being reported, 17 are listed as a result of close contact, seven are listed with no known exposure, and eight cases are pending.

One case is associated with the Thunder Bay District Jail, while 30 of the new cases are in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, two in First Nation communities, and one in a district community.

There are 21 cases considered resolved, but the number of active cases continues to climb in the district and now sits at a record high of 315.

There are no new hospitalizations according to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit data.
