THUNDER BAY –The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has announced 21 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.
Six of those cases were related to outbreaks: three with the Valard Construction East-West construction camp, two with the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home and one at the Thunder Bay District Jail.
Of the remaining 15 cases, 11 are considered a result of close contact, one travel outside of Northwestern Ontario, two no known exposures and one was listed as pending.
Fourteen of the cases were reported in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, four in First Nations communities and three in district communities.
The district has seen 832 cases since the pandemic began, with 663 considered resolved and 26 deaths. There are 143 cases currently considered active, a record high for Thunder Bay.
Two people are in hospital, including one in intensive care.
