THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday, with the active case count remaining at a level not seen since June.

Two of the new cases were in the Thunder Bay area, and another involved a First Nation.

Two cases were attributed to travel outside of Northwestern Ontario, while an exposure category for the third was still pending.

One district resident was in hospital with COVID-19 Thursday, up from zero the day before.

The number of active cases fell by two, to 13 – the second-highest level seen since June 21.

That slight decline came thanks to four previous cases now declared resolved, and one previously reported case removed from the TBDHU’s case count after “data quality checks.”

The health unit reported 23 cases of COVID-19 in August, and has so far reported 16 in September.
