THUNDER BAY – EarthCare Thunder Bay in collaboration with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is bringing neighbours together this weekend at two Healthy Neighbourhood Harvest events.
The first Healthy Neighbourhood Harvest event takes place on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m., at County Park. The second event takes place Sunday, Oct. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Franklin Street Park, near the splash pad.
These family-friendly events will feature an afternoon of free, healthy food, games, activities, prizes and information booths. Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the neighbourhood factors that influence human and environmental health, as well as provide input on local level solutions.
“We look forward to interacting with residents, celebrating strong neighbourhoods, and promoting the importance of working together to make Thunder Bay a more sustainable and resilient city”, said Jacob Porter – Climate Adaptation Coordinator, City of Thunder Bay.
“The way our neighbourhoods are designed can affect our health by supporting physical activity, improving access to healthy foods, and fostering a sense of community,” said Joanna Carasthathis, Health Promotion Planner, Thunder Bay District Health Unit. “These events will bring neighbours together to gather community input on building healthy, connected, and engaged neighbourhoods.”
