Heartbeat Hot Sauce launches new creole maple flavour

The new flavour is the third installment in a partnership between Heartbeat Hot Sauce and mixed martial artist and philanthropist Dustin Poirier

THUNDER BAY — Heartbeat Hot Sauce is combining Louisiana flavours with Ontario maple syrup for its newest sauce.

Hot sauce fans will be getting a new flavour to enjoy thanks to the growing cross-border partnership between the Thunder Bay based hot sauce company, and Dustin Poirier, an American mixed martial artist currently ranked No. 1 in the UFC lightweight division.

Heartbeat Hot Sauce has expanded its partnership with Poirier, now releasing with the third installment of the Poirier's Louisiana Style line-up. The company said the creole maple sauce will bring the two together in the most delicious way.

“We are excited to offer a truly innovative flavour that brings together ingredients that represent both sides of this partnership, Louisiana and Ontario,” said Al Bourbouhakis, co-founder of Heartbeat Hot Sauce.

“It’s our mission to help people experiment with their recipes and make home-cooked meals more exciting and working in partnership with Dustin and Heatonist has been a fun way to test new creations.”

According to Heartbeat Hot Sauce, the new flavour has a heat level that lands between the Original and K.O. Edition and strikes a perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

The new flavour features all the ingredients of a classic Louisiana sauce with the addition of a custom blend of creole seasoning and Ontario maple syrup.

The partnership first began in 2019, when Heartbeat Hot Sauce and Poirier came together to develop a new take on a classic Louisiana style hot sauce in order to pay tribute to the fighter's roots and love for cooking.

After many months of development, the original flavour launched in December 2020 followed shortly followed by the extra hot version in 2021 and Poirier said he’s thankful for being able to work with the company.

“I have always been passionate about cooking and I am so thankful that this partnership with Heartbeat developed because it has allowed me to learn more in a hands-on way from two experts in the field,” said Poirier.

“By going sweet and savoury with this new flavour, the Poirier Louisiana Style trio set now offers a versatile hot sauce for everyone’s tastes.”

Poirier's Louisiana Style Creole Maple is available for purchase online starting Monday, with additional brick-and-mortar retailers to come soon.
