THUNDER BAY — Heat warnings are now in effect for most of Northwestern Ontario, including the City of Thunder Bay.

In the vicinity of Thunder Bay, Environment Canada says locations inland from Lake Superior will see temperatures climb into the low 30s, with humidex values near 36 Celsius, over the next couple of days.

Overnight lows will range between 16 and 20 degrees.

Areas near Lake Superior will experience slightly cooler temperatures.

Heat warnings for the rest of the region extend west to the Manitoba border, east to White River, and as far north as Sachigo Lake, Bearskin Lake, and Webequie.

Extreme heat is a particular risk for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and individuals working or exercising outdoors.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality.
