THUNDER BAY — Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city.

It's estimated that humidex values will reach 35 for the next three days.

A heat event is expected to begin Friday and persist into the weekend.

A hot airmass will arrive on Friday where daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 30 C with humidex values near 35.

There will be little relief overnight as minimum temperatures are expected to be near 19 C.

A cooler airmass is expected to arrive Sunday night or Monday.

The release also states extreme heat can affect everyone’s health.

Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty, to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

People are reminded never to leave anyone inside a parked vehicle, particularly children or pets.
