THUNDER BAY - A former Thunder Bay city councillor will remain in custody until the new year after being charged with attempted murder last month.
Larry Hebert, 72, made a brief court appearance on Friday for a bail hearing. According to David Young, who is representing Hebert, a surety still needs to be secured to meet bail conditions.
Hebert will appear in court again via video on Jan. 7, 2020 for a bail hearing and will remain in custody on consent until that date.
Hebert was charged with attempted murder following a disturbance at a Vickers Street South residence on the afternoon of Nov. 14, 2019.
According to the initial media release from the Thunder Bay Police Service, an individual was attacked by a male at the residence and was also threatened. The individual was able to flee to another residence to call 911.
There is a publication ban in place on the details of this case.
Hebert served three terms on city council and was first elected in 2006. He was unsuccessful in his re-election bid in 2018.
