A former Thunder Bay filmmaker seriously injured in a Pennsylvania helicopter crash has died.

Greg Jacobsen, 33, passed away on the weekend after spending more than three weeks in intensive care in an Allentown, Pa. hospital following the April 30 accident.

Jacobsen, who graduated from Confederation College, was shooting an episode of Campus PD, a reality show, close to Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Doctors initially told family in Thunder Bay that he was in stable condition, despite numerous fractures, burns and two collapsed lungs.

Jacobsen was one of four people on board the helicopter. Pilot Robert Trent, of Friedens, Penn., was admitted to hospital in critical condition, but has since been released, according to the Indiana Gazette. Bartosz Sobolewski, a colleague of Jacobsen’s at Toronto-based Cineflex Productions, walked away with minor injuries.

Injuries to Jacobsen and another passenger, who hasn’t been identified, were more serious.

The National Transportation and Safety Board, responsible for investigating the crash, issued an online report on Saturday, but listed no cause for the accident.
