Hernandez verdict delayed, Justice not ready to give judgement

The judgment in a fatal hit-and-run incident has been delayed for another two weeks.

The judgment in a fatal hit-and-run incident has been delayed for another two weeks.

Christian Hernandez was charged in December 2010 with impaired driving and failure to remain at the scene of a collision in an alleged hit-and-run that resulted in the death of 45-year-old Richard Carmichael.

Justice Joyce Pelletier said she was not ready to give judgment yet on the case Monday morning at the provincial courthouse.

City police arrested and charged Hernandez in December 2010 for his alleged  role in the death of Richard Garson Carmichael, 45.

Carmichael was pronounced dead at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after being struck by a vehicle in the 100 block of High Street North. The victim was a pedestrian at the time of the incident.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service later arrested and charged Hernandez with two counts of impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after his girlfriend turned him in.

The case has been adjourned to Nov. 18 when a ruling is expected.
