THUNDER  BAY — Ontario Provincial Police reported that two sections of Highway 17 were closed west of Thunder Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

A collision forced the closure of the highway between Shabaqua and Upsala.

OPP were on the scene.

Police said a second collision resulted in the temporary closure of the stretch between Old Highway 17 and West Kin Lake Road, about five kilometres east of Ignace.

However, Ontario 511 reported that OPP were controlling traffic through the collision scene.

Police later declared the road fully reopened at that location.

The Shabaqua to Upsala section was reopened late Tuesday evening.

Collisions were reported at various locations in the Northwest on Tuesday.
