A planned highway blockade that would have taken place just outside Thunder Bay has been cancelled by its organizers.

About 200-members of the Fort William First Nation were scheduled to block the Trans-Canada Highway for five hours Thursday. The blockade was believed to have been fuelled by the G8 and G20 summits taking place in Huntsville and Toronto.

Provincial police say they have been advised that the blockade will not happen.

Another blockade is planned on Highway 403 between Hamilton and Toronto. But details about that blockade are unclear at this time.
