Highway collision leads to impaired charges

GERALDTON, Ont. – A 26-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after she was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 11.

Ontario Provincial Police, Superior North Emergency Medical Services and the Greenstone Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Oct. 23 around 6:24 p.m. on Highway 11 west of Geraldton.

The lone occupant was transported to Geraldton District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 26-year-old from Avonmore with operation of a conveyance while impaired and operation of a conveyance while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

The accused was released by way of recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Geraldton court on Dec. 10 to answer to the charges.

Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to drivers licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs. Please drive responsibly, don't drink and drive.
