THUNDER BAY -- A 59-year-old man was taken to hospital after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 west of Kakabeka Falls.

Ontario Provincial Police say a Newcastle resident was driving eastbound early Wednesday morning when the tractor-trailer entered the eastbound ditch just before 1 a.m.

The tractor and trailer came to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle, partially in the ditch in the eastbound lane causing the lane to be blocked.

The 59-year old driver from Newcastle, Ontario was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He was charged under the highway traffic act for making an unsafe lane-move.
