Highway crash kills one, injures two

Thunder Bay OPP investigate a motor vehicle collision that left one man dead and two others injured.

THUNDER BAY – One man is dead following a three-vehicle highway crash early Wednesday morning. 

Shortly after 7 a.m., Thunder Bay OPP received reports of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 between John Street and Oliver Road.

Thunder Bay detachment OPP officers, along with the OPP's Highway Safety Division, Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and Forensic Identification Unit are still at the scene.

Provincial Const. Diana Cole said officers are investigating the scene in order to get all the details.

“Three people were transported to the hospital,” Cole said. “One male driver was transported and pronounced dead at the hospital.”

Another male driver has sustained what is being described as serious injuries, while the extent of a female driver's injuries are still unknown. 

Cole said the highway has been reopened.
